"What kids need most is knowing they're important in their parents' lives and loved deeply" -- David Elkind
Building good communication with your children
A happy and healthy child is able to concentrate well in school and face challenges better later in life. He or she will also have higher immunity levels and fall sick less often.
Good communication makes your children feel loved and accepted. It also makes them realise that they are important enough to be heard
Praise your children
Notice your children's good behaviour. Make it a habit to look out for it daily. Examples of good behaviour include completing their homework, cleaning their room or being polite.
Acknowledge your children's good behaviour with sincerity. Stop what you are doing and focus your attention to them.
Explain why you like what they did so they know what they are complimented for. For example, "You remembered to greet your grandparents today. That was very polite of you and I appreciate that"; "You completed your homework on your own. Well done!"
Praising your children allows them to realise their positive actions and helps to build positive self-esteem
